Dr Andrea Dimitracopoulos

Andrea is passionate about applying disruptive thinking to bring about innovation in the Biomedical sector. During his training as a Biomedical Engineer at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Italy), Andrea designed modular mini-robots for minimally invasive surgery. Then for his PhD he moved to University College London (UK), where he used interdisciplinary approaches combining micro-fabrication, cell culture experiments, and theoretical modelling to answer fundamental questions about Cancer cell division.

As a Herchel Smith Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Cambridge (UK) he developed new methods to grow neurons in a controlled manner, in the hope to advance therapeutic approaches to treat debilitating conditions such as spinal cord injury. He also worked closely with Max on establishing new AI methods to accelerate the effective adoption of AI in the Biomedical sector. Together, they co-founded DeepMirror to bring their innovations to academia and industry, with the mission of improving human health and contribute to a sustainable environment. In his spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time with his friends and loved ones, and having fun with the latest technologies.
